Kerlin’s Dream: A Future Full of Hope

Kerlin Rodríguez, an 8-year-old girl from the community of Playa Grande, Nacaome, has big dreams. She dreams of growing up and becoming a successful professional. Despite her young age, Kerlin has witnessed the challenges her parents face in keeping their children in school. Her parents work tirelessly, juggling multiple jobs, striving every day to provide what is needed for their education.

This year, Kerlin was close to not being able to enter third grade. An unexpected event shook her family when her brother required emergency surgery, and her parents had to use all their savings to cover the medical expenses. With this heavy burden, they were left without enough money to buy the school supplies that Kerlin and her siblings needed to continue their education.

However, hope arrived thanks to Fundesur. Through our commitment to education and the well-being of communities, Kerlin and her siblings received school kits, allowing them to return to school. Now, Kerlin continues to dream and strive for that bright future she longs for, without the lack of resources standing in her way.

At Fundesur, we believe that children are the future of our country, which is why we provide school kits each year to girls and boys like Kerlin, helping to reduce school dropout rates in the communities where we operate. We know that education is the foundation of a prosperous society, and we continue working hard to improve the quality of life for people, giving them the tools, they need to reach their dreams.

Thanks to Fundesur, Kerlin has not only regained her opportunity to study but also the hope of a future full of possibilities.
